Game Report: Arizona Diamondbacks @ Washington Nationals. 8/25/11

The nationals continued there recent trend of not scoring Thursday night, in a blow out game against the first place Arizona Diamond Backs (NL West). The nationals sent John Lannan to the bump, and got a good start out of him. The Diamond Backs trotted rookie Wade Miley to the hill for only his second start. Both pitchers where pitching scoreless ball until the 6th inning, when following a Justin Upton single, Chris Young hit a 2 run blast near the bullpen in left field, giving the Diamondbacks a 2-0 lead. The Nationals answered back in the 7th, scoring Ian Desmond on a Michael Morse Single. That one run however, would be all the Nats could muster, giving up another home run, this one by Paul Goldschmidt, in the 8th, following a RBI double by Miguel Montero. The Diamond backs would push across 3 more in the 9th, off 3 straight RBI singles by Montero, Goldschmidt, and Aaron Hill. It took the nationals 6 different pitchers to finish the game, and 5 alone to pitch the last 3 innings, including 3 in the 8th. John Lannan was tagged with the lose, while Wade Miley earned his first big league win. Washington will be in Cincinnati tommroww, for game one of a 3 game series with the reds.
