The Under Dog Named Kershaw
It amazes me that Clayton Kershaw wont win the NL Cy Young this year. It really does. Clayton Kershaw is head and shoulders above all the other pitchers in the NL, but yet the much sexier pick of Roy Halladay will end up winning. Lets find out why Kershaw SHOULD win, and then lets go over why he WONT win. He should win because his ERA is 2.51, compared to Roy Halladay's 2.56. Kershaw has a 1.02 WHIP, compared to Roy's 1.05. And it doesn't end there, Kershaw's Opponent Batting Average is .212 while Halladay is once again worst, being .248. But wait, THERE'S MORE! As of Today, They both have pitched the exact same number of innings, but Roy has allowed 177 Hits, While Kershaw has only allowed 146. Kershaw got 206 strikeouts so far, while Halladay only has 182. In almost every category, Kershaw remains supreme. But that sadly, wont win him the Cy Young. Kershaw's contract is only 500,000 this year. I want you to guess Halladay's. Ready? Ready? 20,000,000. Yeah, 20,000,000. Thats a HUGE difference, 1,500,000 different in fact. Also, I know that LA is a large market, but lets face it, picking a Phillie, who apperently have the best rotation in MLB history (wrong) is MUCH sexier then picking the bankrupt dodgers. Its amazing, the Dodgers have should be MVP winner, and the Cy Young, but they still, quite frankly, suck. How is that possible? I dont know. You know what else I dont know, how Clayton Kershaw is going to lose the Cy Young.
